Vocational Education and Training Partnerships (BBP) are programs funded by the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) to fight poverty through the promotion of sustainable economic development. These programs are intended to mobilize the experience and know-how of German business membership organizations (BMO) for development cooperation, enable direct collaboration of non-government agencies and pick up on private sector initiatives.
IHK-Exportakademie GmbH (IEx) acts as the implementing organization and carries out a project in Georgia self-responsibly. In close cooperation with their local partner, Georgian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI), IEx plans and implements the projects objectives and measures since 2021. The project staff assigned is recruited from the IEx, Mr. Knut Gerber as the long term expert, as well as from among other German and international experts. The project´s overall goal is to strengthen the competitiveness of the Georgian economy by practically trained personnel on the national and international market. The IEx, as one of the projects objective, is constantly supporting its partner GCCI in having a sustainable and quality-enhancing impact on the vocational education and training system in Georgia and to align it with the needs of the economy. The project in its current phase is mainly focusing on developing the necessary instructor force, following the German AdA-system, and designing and promoting a better environment for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) reform processes in the country.
