Acquire crucial knowledge and skills for navigating the complexities of the EU Deforestation Regulation in international markets, ensuring compliance, enhancing competitiveness, and contributing to global sustainability efforts to ensure continued market access to the EU.
Understand and train the requirements of the EU Deforestation Regulation as foreign exporters to EU-customers.
Regulation 1115/2023 (EU) on deforestation and forest degradation (EUDR) has been in force since June 2023. Companies subject to the EUDR must be ready to apply the regulation by 30th December 2024 (small and micro-enterprises by 30th June 2025). The EUDR only imposes obligations on companies based in the EU.
However, the EUDR constitutes an import and export ban for the commodities listed in Annex I of the Regulation: cattle, cocoa, coffee, palm oil, rubber, soya, timber, and products if they are not deforestation-free and do not comply with the relevant legislation of the country of production. The EUDR therefore also indirectly affects companies based outside the EU. Many industries are affected, including machinery (through rubber spare parts), coffee and cocoa trade, furniture, and the paper industry.
